Finding Hope in What Comes Next
The Star
The Star is one of the most beautiful and comforting cards in the Tarot because it reminds us that even after difficult experiences, disappointment, or uncertainty, there is still hope. Following the Tower in the traditional Major Arcana sequence, The Star appears after everything familiar has been shaken, symbolizing the quiet process of healing and renewal that follows a period of upheaval. In the card, we see a figure beneath a starlit sky, pouring water onto the earth and into a pool. The water represents the flow of emotions, healing, and renewal, while the stars above offer a reminder that light can still be found, even in the darkest moments. The Star doesn't promise that life will suddenly become perfect. Instead, it reminds us that we can begin to feel whole again, that we can rediscover our faith, and that difficult chapters do not determine how the rest of our story unfolds.
The Star also asks us to reconnect with ourselves and the dreams we may have set aside along the way. Sometimes, when life doesn't unfold as we expected, we begin to lose faith—not only in circumstances or other people, but in ourselves. We question our decisions, wonder whether we are on the right path, and become afraid to hope for something better because we don't want to be disappointed again. The Star gently encourages us to open our hearts to possibility once more. What dreams are still waiting for you? What brings you a sense of purpose, peace, or excitement? What would you allow yourself to believe if you weren't carrying the weight of past disappointments? You don't have to have all the answers today. Sometimes healing begins with simply remembering that you are still allowed to dream.
This card also connects beautifully with the journey of letting go. In October, the Eight of Cups asked us to find the courage to walk away from what no longer fulfills us. But once we leave something behind, we must learn how to live without constantly looking back. That can be difficult, especially when we don't yet know what will take its place. The Star reminds us that we don't have to fill every empty space immediately or force the next chapter to begin before we are ready. We can give ourselves permission to rest, heal, and trust the process. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is stop trying to control every outcome and allow ourselves to believe that life can still surprise us in beautiful ways. Hope isn't about knowing exactly what will happen. It is about remaining open to the possibility that something good can happen, even when we cannot yet see how.
Ultimately, The Star is a message of renewal, authenticity, and faith in yourself. It reminds you that your past does not diminish your future, your disappointments do not define your worth, and the things that didn't work out do not mean that you have run out of opportunities. You are allowed to begin again with a softer heart and a clearer understanding of what truly matters to you. You are allowed to want more, to dream differently, and to believe in possibilities you cannot yet explain. As you move through November, let The Star remind you that healing takes time, hope can return in small moments, and even the smallest spark of faith can help illuminate your path forward. You may not know exactly where your journey is taking you, but you can trust that walking away from what no longer belongs in your life has made room for something new to find you.
